Gordon Institute Professor Col. Mike Manning will facilitate a discussion where participants will have the opportunity to gain a more robust understanding of what it means to be an inclusive and supportive teammate and leader. This hour long session will explore the concept of psychological safety, appreciate the relationship between psychological safety and trust, offer personal anecdotes related to psychological safety and consider different ways to create psychological safety among members of a team.
Harvard Business School Professor Amy Edmondson describes psychological safety, as a shared belief, which is held among team members that it is safe for interpersonal risk taking. Team members, on psychologically safe teams, enjoy a team climate characterized by trust and authenticity. Psychological safety advances an environment in which all members of the team regardless of position or seniority feel safe asking questions, speaking their mind, and challenging paradigms.
The Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership specializes in bridging the gap between leadership development and technical education.
