Graduate Certificate in Engineering Leadership and AI Fundamentals
Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Engineering Leadership and AI Fundamentals equips professionals with the skills to lead technical teams while leveraging modern artificial intelligence tools. The program combines core principles of engineering leadership—such as strategic decision-making, communication, and project management—with foundational knowledge in AI. Graduates are prepared to bridge the gap between technical innovation and organizational leadership, driving impactful, AI-enabled solutions across industries.
Bridge the Gap Between Engineering and Leadership
The Graduate Certificate in Engineering Leadership and AI Fundamentals is designed for early- to mid-career professionals seeking to expand both their technical and leadership capabilities in a rapidly evolving, AI-driven landscape. This program provides a balanced curriculum that integrates engineering leadership principles, project management, and foundational and applied knowledge of artificial intelligence.
Students develop essential leadership competencies such as strategic thinking, team management, effective communication, and decision-making in complex technical environments. Alongside these skills, the program introduces key AI concepts, including machine learning, data analytics, and the practical use of AI tools to solve real-world engineering and business challenges.
Through a combination of coursework, case studies, and an industry-based Challenge Project, participants learn to lead cross-functional teams, manage innovation, and implement AI solutions responsibly.
Graduates of the program are prepared to take on leadership roles that require technical expertise, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to drive organizational transformation.
The Challenge Project
Every aspect of the curriculum is grounded in real-world application, as is demonstrated by the significant emphasis placed on the Challenge Project.
Through this transformational experience in project-based learning, Candidates directly apply the concepts and techniques learned in the classroom to lead a project of significant value to their organizations. Unlike a traditional academic thesis that focuses on research, the Challenge Project focuses on product/process development and delivery with an emphasis on customers and stakeholders.
For industry sponsors, the Challenge Project is the mechanism through which a product or process of value and impact is developed on behalf of the organization. For Candidates, it is an opportunity to expand their knowledge of a technical domain and develop self-confidence under real-world time, business, performance, and quality pressure.
