Greg Johnson

Greg Johnson, PE has 37 years of transportation experience ranging from project-level success tactics and oversight to executive-level strategy and technical direction. He has delivered a career of widely ranging projects from multi-million dollar fast-paced freeway reconstructions to quality downtown streetscapes and non-motorized facilities. He has held a variety of positions including resident engineer, TSC manager, region engineer, chief engineer/deputy director, and state highway administrator. At all levels throughout his career, Greg has sought out and implemented innovative solutions to transportation problems. He played a key role in implementing and improving numerous processes including e-construction, dispute resolution boards, alternate project delivery methods, enhanced partnering, electronic invoicing, prompt pay specifications, etc. He also participated in the rewrite of the MDOT 2003 and 2012 Standard Specifications for construction as well as overseeing the conversion to an electronic format. One of Greg’s key areas of expertise is in creating and enhancing successful teams, ensuring that they are well resourced to deliver quality projects and solutions. Greg’s passionate leadership and ability to deliver projects that meet community needs while achieving needed mobility objectives have been recognized by both those external and internal to the organizations he has served.
Greg joined WSP in 2017 and has served as Michigan Area Manager and National Director of
Construction Management.
